Connor Chapoose was a respected leader among the Ute people and was known for his work preserving traditional Ute culture in conjuction with promoting the modernization of the Ute people. He was involved with many organizations during his lifetime including Uintah-Ouray Reservations's Business Committee, Tribal Farm Enterprise, Ute Cattle Enterprise, and the National Congress of American Indians. He also had a career as a federal civil servant witht the Department of Agriculture's Extension Farm Work Program located in White Rock's, Utah.
